Foot Rx’s Blackjack 5K Race Cancelled

February 25th, 2013 by Site Admin

Foot Rx Running’s Blackjack 5K Race, which was to have been held last week, has been cancelled. The race was to have been held at Fletcher Community Park.

Aaron Saft, race director of Foot Rx Running, said that the venue is flooded and icy, making it too dangerous for a race. He promised that the race will be held at a future date and that Foot Rx Running will keep those interested updated about it.

Foot Rx had decided to organize the Blackjack 5K Race to give blackjack enthusiasts a chance to win attractive prizes. It was supposed to have been a 3.1-mile running and/or walking event. The registration fees were set at $10 per participant.

According to the rules of the race, participants would get a playing card upon registration and another playing card during the course of the game. They were given the freedom to request another card at the end of the race. Participants had to use their cards to create a hand as close to 21 as possible. While the aces could be 1 or 11, the number cards were to be taken at face value and the picture cards were to be 10—just like a game of standard blackjack.
