Macau Blackjack Dealers Complain of Abuse

April 24th, 2014 by Site Admin

Macau’s casino gaming industry has been a roaring success, attracting a larger number of high rollers every year. But the blackjack dealers are far from happy. More and more of them are complaining of getting physically and verbally abused by gamblers.

Today, Macau is one of the major gambling destinations of the world, generating more revenue than Las Vegas. In 2013, the gambling city beat Las Vegas by generating as much as $45 billion in gambling revenues. Macau could become so successful because of its ability to attract rich businessmen from all over Asia.

Since Asian high rollers bet outrageously large sums of money, they are pampered by Macau casinos and treated to a wide range of freebies such as free flights, free meals, free accommodation, and unlimited credit. They are also permitted to behave as they like at the gaming tables. The croupiers have to suffer as a result of this.

Jose Pereira Coutinho, a legislator, is now urging the Macau government to pass proper laws for the protection of croupiers from abusive behavior. He says that these laws should also prevent casinos from firing croupiers who complain against wealthy gamblers as croupiers have the right to work without getting abused.

How Strategy Charts Help Blackjack Players

April 19th, 2014 by Site Admin

Although understanding the rules of blackjack is simple, mastering blackjack strategy is difficult. Basic strategy charts not only simplify this difficult aspect of learning the game, but also make it fun.

Blackjack beginners get very confused while playing blackjack at first. Making the decisions of surrendering, hitting, doubling, standing, and splitting is not that easy. Players require mathematical abilities and knowledge of strategy; they also need to put in several hours practicing the game. As previously mentioned, strategy charts can make blackjack players’ lives easier.

The aim of blackjack players is to beat the dealer, but this is easier said than done. If players get a point value of sixteen and the dealer’s exposed card is a ten, they can easily get confused. Strategy charts tell players exactly what to do in order to beat the dealer and win the game.

Strategy charts help players decide whether it is more in their favor to hit or to stand. For instance, if the dealer’s exposed card is of high value, players need to get a point value as close to 21 as possible to win the game, and in this case, they should hit. If the dealer’s exposed card is of low value, players can stand.

Word Count: 205

Simple Strategies to Save Casino Bankrolls

April 12th, 2014 by Site Admin

Tom Scurry has shared some simple casino strategies on BlackjackChamp.com. Warning that casinos are dangerous for bankrolls, he says that a few simple strategies can help players make a tidy profit.

The first strategy is a simple card counting strategy for roulette. Scurry says that players should write down the numbers from one to six and then bet on the sum of the first and last numbers on the list, red/black, or odd/even. If they win, they can strike off the numbers they have played. If they lose, they should write another number at the end and then place bets on the lowest and highest number on the list. Players can continue this till there are no more numbers on their piece of paper.

Scurry calls the second strategy as the James Bond strategy. Players should bet $14 on the number range 19 to 36, $5 on the numbers from 13 to 18, and $1 bet on zero. If they do this, they will not win only if the ball lands on numbers one to 12.

The last strategy is a simple card counting method, which requires players to only keep track of the suit instead of each card that comes out of the shoe while playing blackjack.

Benefits of Playing Mobile Blackjack

April 9th, 2014 by Site Admin

Mobile casinos offer a wide range of casino games, including blackjack, poker, roulette, baccarat, video poker, and slots. Playing mobile blackjack has a number of advantages as it is both lucrative and entertaining.

Mobile blackjack has the lowest house edge of all casino games—around 0.5 percent or even lower. This means that skilled players can easily win a game of mobile blackjack and pocket some cash. Mobile blackjack is not just a game of skill; players need knowledge of strategy and plenty of skill to beat the house. The decisions players make can actually lower the house edge further and help them win the game.

Another advantage of playing mobile blackjack is that it is so convenient. Players need not find a computer or laptop or get dressed and visit a land casino. They can carry their mobile casino in their pockets and play mobile blackjack anywhere and anytime they wish. They only need to have a smartphone or tablet in their possession.

The biggest advantage is that players do not have to make any in-app purchases. All they have to do is log into their mobile casino accounts and play their favorite blackjack games. They can also grab attractive blackjack bonuses and take part in fabulous promotions.

What Blackjack Players Can Do if They Get Sixteen

April 1st, 2014 by Site Admin

Blackjack players are not fond of getting a sixteen. If they stand, they may not beat the dealer. If they hit, they will bust if they do not receive cards from aces to fives.

What should a blackjack player do if he/she gets sixteen? According to blackjack strategy experts, players can stand if the dealer’s exposed card is anywhere between two and six. If the dealer is showing anywhere between a seven and an ace, players should hit.

But there is an exception to this rule. If players have three cards of point value sixteen and the dealer has a ten, the best option is to stand. For instance, if a player gets a six and a ten and the dealer’s exposed card is a ten, players must stand. If players get a two and a four, decide to hit, and get a ten, the best option for them is to stand if the dealer’s exposed card is ten.

If the casino offers the surrender option, the best strategy for players is to surrender if the dealer’s exposed card is ace, ten, or nine. Players often get confused if they get an eight pair, but the best option in this case is to split.

Important Things Marketing Analysts Can Learn from Blackjack

March 25th, 2014 by Site Admin

Sameer Chopra, vice president (advanced analytics) for Orbitz Worldwide, a travel company, says that blackjack has important lessons to teach those involved in processing marketing data. He was delivering the keynote address at the Predictive Analytics World Conference, held in San Francisco. As many as 250 data analysts and scientists were present at the venue.

Making it quite clear that he is not endorsing gambling in any way, Chopra said that both card counting and predictive analytics depend on reducing risks by using available data to predict an outcome. He also spoke of the importance of changing and evolving with the industry, warning his listeners that if they don’t wake up, they will be “living with a losing strategy.”

Urging the audience to “think long term,” he said that even the perfect blackjack strategy cannot save players from losing streams. Therefore, it is important to have confidence in long-term visions.

Speaking of the importance of seizing opportunities, he said that blackjack players who take risks could double down and lose a lot of money. On the other hand, they will get a lot of money if they win. Similarly, in marketing data, it is essential to take risks and play the odds.

Blackjack Saves FedEx from Bankruptcy

March 23rd, 2014 by Site Admin

It was the popular game of blackjack that saved FedEx (FDX) from going under, according to a report published in The Street by Chris Ciaccia.

Marc Bodnick, one of the founders of Elevation Partners, posted in Quora that Fred Smith, the then chief executive officer (CEO) of FedEx actually saved the young company by playing blackjack. Bodnick urges those interested to check out a book on the history of FedEx, called Changing How the World Does Business, written by Roger Frock, who was one of the founding executives of FedEx.

According to page 101 of Frock’s book, FedEx’s funds had diminished to only $5,000 in its checking account, but the company required $24,000 to pay for jet fuel. When Frock returned from Memphis, he was surprised to see $32,000 in the account.

When he asked Smith about the money, Smith said that, as the meeting with General Dynamics came to nothing, he had flown to Las Vegas and won $27,000 playing blackjack as he knew that FedEx badly needed the money. When Frock asked him how he could gamble with the last $5,000 FedEx had, he said that it wouldn’t have made any difference as they still wouldn’t have had enough money for the jet fuel.

Blackjack Dealer Wants to Strike Deal with Prosecutors

March 18th, 2014 by Site Admin

Jacob Tessin, a 27-year-old former blackjack dealer, said that he is close to making a deal with the felony court prosecutors. In January, he was charged with violating gambling laws, which happens to be a Class C felony. If the court finds him guilty, he can get up to five years in prison.

According to prosecutors, Tessin cheated the sports bar while dealing at the blackjack table so that the patrons could win and give him larger tips.

The former blackjack dealer has pleaded not guilty and has announced through Blake Hankey, his legal representative, that he wants a plea agreement instead of a trial. He had also planned to meet Kelly Votava, who operates three charity gaming sites on behalf of Grafton Curling Club. Votava, who checks the house’s percentage that blackjack dealers win every night, says that one can make out something is wrong if this percentage drops drastically. She was the one who caught Tessin cheating at the blackjack tables.

Tessin told Votava that he is ready to pay restitution and wants her to give him a support letter, and Votava is willing to support him. According to her, this case can be used to make blackjack dealers aware that they can easily get caught cheating.

March 13th, 2014 by Site Admin

Twenty-one Plus Three Blackjack is an interesting combination of Classic Blackjack and Three Card Poker, one of its most unique features being a side bet. This variant challenges players to win as much as 100 times their bet amounts.

The game is governed by some simple rules. Like Blackjack, the game is played against the house. Players’ aim is to create a hand better than the dealer’s without going bust or exceeding a point value of 21. Players can also try to increase their winnings by placing an optional side bet, which they can win if their first two cards and the dealer’s face-up card make the correct combination.

The game requires six well-shuffled decks of playing cards. The rules require the dealer to hit till he gets a point value of 17 or more. Players can re-split their cards and double down on re-split or split hands. They are also allowed to buy insurance, and each insurance bet pays two to one. If players get a blackjack while playing a game of Twenty-one Plus Three Blackjack, they will get a payout of 3 to 2.

Twenty-one Plus Three Blackjack is available at any licensed and regulated online casino, along with several other variants of online blackjack.

Man Sues Casino for Losing $500k Playing Blackjack

March 10th, 2014 by Site Admin

A resident of California resident has sued the Las Vegas based Downtown Grand Casino after losing $500,000 playing Pai Gow Poker and blackjack games. The man had borrowed heavily from the casino to place bets on these table games.

Currently, Downtown Grand and its customer are engaged in a legal battle over the funds borrowed from the casino. The man has complained that the casino continuously served him drinks and encouraged him to gamble although he was clearly drunk. The casino has countersued on grounds that their customer has not repaid the money he owes them.

According to the man’s lawyer, the man was “blackout intoxicated” to the extent he couldn’t even read the cards. Nevada law says that disciplinary action can be taken against casinos for “permitting persons who are visibly intoxicated to participate in gaming activity” or providing “complimentary service of intoxicating beverages in the casino area to persons who are visibly intoxicated.”

It may be recalled that Terrance Watanabe, a businessman based in Nebraska, lost $189 million playing at Harrah’s casino properties over one year. He had sued the casino over the $14 million it had loaned him, complaining that the casino employees had served him painkillers and alcohol and encouraged him to continue gambling.
