The Columbus Hollywood Casino is on the verge of being launched, and dealers are being given training on a wide range of casino games such as poker, craps, blackjack, and roulette.

Landon Wieging (23), one of those getting trained to be dealers and table managers, admitted that he has not even been inside a casino. Gina Hill, another trainee, said that she knew nothing about cards and had never gambled in her life, but has begun learning blackjack recently.

Most of these trainees do not consider casino games as games, but as opportunities to a new life. Admitting that she had never gone to college, Hill said that she can now say that she has been to a dealer school.

The job opportunities generated by the establishment of large casinos promise better quality of life for many people. Sharing her experiences, Hill said that she lives on the west side and is extremely excited about working as a table manager and dealer. She said that it will make things better for her, something she has been waiting for.

Columbus Hollywood Casino already has 550 dealers, who are currently undergoing training, and hopes to raise the number to 660 when the casino is finally launched.
