Blackjack Scam Artists Get Caught By Cameras

December 5th, 2011 by Site Admin

Blackjack players who count cards and try to beat the casinos at their own game must be both highly skilled and subtle players to get away with it. Unfortunately for the blackjack con gang run by Phuong Quoc Truong, they were more tricksters than card counters and were trying to win big at the tables by employing scams.

And, inevitably justice caught up with them via footage from a surveillance video. This team of scammers was working the blackjack tables at San Diego casinos, and had won millions of dollars by using a well set cheating system that involved the dealer, hidden microphones, outside aides and so on.

The team was led by Phuong Quoc Truong otherwise known as Pai Gow John; according to their set up an entire team would sit at a table to take up all the places at a table with a dealer in on the scam. The dealer would only pretend to shuffle the cards so that all the cards were in order, while one player relayed information on the cards dealt via hidden microphone in his sleeve to another scam member sitting outside with a computer in his car.

The player pretended to be smoking a cigarette and spoke into his sleeve, then signaling the players whether to bet or hold based on the information relayed to him from the man on the computer. The team scammed the casino of $7 million but were eventually arrested.
